Summary of testing guidance for blood born viruses/hepatitis C

  • Public Health Wales offers a free and confidential test for Hepatitis C and HIV.
  • Since 1991, all blood donors are screened for bloodborne viruses, and all blood is tested before being sent to hospitals.

There is a dedicated email address to deal with queries from patients, or their relatives, about patients who may have had blood transfusions during this time. Lines are open 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday.
