Practice Manager (Under Construction)

HEIW Handbook

NWSSP (NHS Wales Shared Service Partnership)

In Wales, GP trainees are employed under a “Single Lead Employer”.

The GP Practice doesn’t employ the GP trainee, but “hosts”

Leave

The main types of leave the Practice Manager and or Assistant/Deputy Practice Manager may have to engage with are:

  • Annual Leave
  • Study Leave
  • Sick Leave

You may also need to be aware regarding:

  • Maternity
  • Shared Parental
  • Adoption Leave
The recommendation is the standard notice period of 6-8 weeks.

However, this may change within the practice.

HEIW asks that PM approve annual leave requests and keep record of annual leave taken.

Annual Leave

The amount of annual leave will be shared with the Practice Manager via the Employee Front sheet.

This should normally arrive before the trainee starts at the practice.

Sick Leave

A sicknote not provided within 7 days should be recorded as unauthorized absence.

This must be reported to shared services.
