Supporting Documentatation/CPD

In this section, you can make an entry to reflect back on previous pieces of evidence you’ve highlighted in either clinical reviews or PDP.

Here, you can share evidence and brief summaries of CPD reading/learning events.

In this section, you should record:

  • Basic Life Support
  • Safeguarding Certification,
  • Unscheduled/Out of Hours attendance

You can also record other learning events, such as:

  • eLearning
  • Tutorials
  • Courses
  • Certificates
  • Lectures
  • Reading

Please note, entries that purely document reading or doing an online course is NOT Workplace Based Learning Activities.

Learning Event Analysis/Significant Event

The term “Learning Events Analysis” refers to the analysis of events that do not reach the GMC threshold for harm but present an opportunity for learning.

These events should be documented annually on a specific form.

This analysis might include events that may not have a serious outcome but highlight issues that could have been handled with greater clinical effectiveness and from which lessons can be learned.

An entry under Learning Event Analysis would normally involve sharing information within the team and demonstrating learning.

Areas for further learning and development should be reflected in your Personal Development Plan (PDP).

It is important to note that “Significant Events” must be reflected on.

You can use these as opportunities to identify either ‘PUNs’ or ‘DENs’. These are ‘Patient Unmet Needs’ or ‘Doctor Educational Needs’ to demonstrate continued learning and improvement.
